DESCRIPTION
The M.Ed. in Reading, Language and Literacy Education (ESOL) is an advanced graduate program offered by Georgia State University (Lead Institution) in collaboration with faculty from North Georgia College and State University and Valdosta State University. The degree has been offered at Georgia State University as a major since Fall 1968. The M.Ed. major in Reading, Language and Literacy (ESOL) provides learning experiences for certified teachers regardless of their initial preparation area who wish to be prepared in the areas of both ESOL and literacy education. This entirely online version of our 36-hour program can be completed in as few as four semesters. Applicants should hold at least a bachelor’s level certification in any area. This degree meets the requirements for an endorsement in Georgia as a P-12 ESOL teacher and a reading endorsement as a highly qualified classroom teacher of reading. The Georgia State University Bookstore is your official headquarters for textbooks, course packs, class supplies, university insignia merchandise, regalia, gift items, general books, software and snacks. There are many ways to pay for college, depending on your academic situation. Financial Aid is available to students classified as degree seeking (certificate programs are not eligible). Some financial aid is based on merit, some on need. Loans require repayment, while grants don't have to be repaid. Federal Pell Grant, HOPE, Institutional Matching Grant and most state program funds are limited to students pursuing a first bachelor's degree.
